Who are we?

Its 1977. The Queen celebrates her silver jubilee, Star Wars rules the cinemas, Elvis Presley dies and….AMV is born. David Abbott, Peter Mead and Adrian Vickers started the agency with the aim of becoming the best (not biggest) communication agency in the UK, with the belief that principles and profit did not have to be mutually exclusive

Their success meant that along the way the company did become the biggest agency in the UK and has remained so for the past 17 years, creating numerous award-winning and instantly recognisable campaigns for our clients along the way. Over the past five years, AMV BBDO has won more awards for both creativity and effectiveness than any other UK agency.

AMV BBDO was voted Campaign Agency of the Year in 1995 and 1996, the first time any agency had been awarded the title two years running. More recently, AMV BBDO has been runner-up as Campaign Agency of the Year in 2011 and 2012. In 2016 was AMV named most successful agency in the UK at D&AD

In 1991, the BBDO network joined the party when AMV acquired BBDO London to form Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO Ltd, bringing the agency a wealth of new talent and clients.

BBDO Worldwide traces its origins back over 120 years when the Batten Company formed in a small office in New York with just one employee and no clients. From these humble beginnings it has grown to become the second largest global advertising agency network, numbering more than 15,000 employees in 289 offices across 81 countries.

With its philosophy of “The Work, The Work, The Work”, BBDO enjoys a fantastic reputation for creativity, being named the Most Awarded Agency Network in the World by the Gunn report for the past 6 years as well as Network of the Year at Cannes for the past 5 years. Impressive, eh?
